The University of New South Wales Law Journal has announced the publication of its September 2021 Issue. Behlau Murakami Grant’s Criminal Law and Corporate Misconduct Division Partner, Ron Behlau’s article “Every move you make…Every word you say: Regulating Police Body Worn Cameras” features in the publication alongside some of the nation’s leading legal and academic minds.

The article argues that when deployed by police, BWC footage is clearly the “best objective evidence” and has the power to better serve and protect all involved – including the police themselves but more importantly, vulnerable witnesses.

“Better regulation of BWC’s will prevent wrongful convictions by ensuring that false, incorrect or even fabricated evidence is not given against an accused person. Mandated use of BWC’s has the power to prevent deaths in custody and even change our nation’s woeful first nations incarceration rate” said Mr Behlau.
